Why I’m Running Again

The county should begin receiving checks for the carbon credits program in 2025. I have been involved in this process from the beginning and am interested in seeing if and how it will work out, or if it will require any more fine-tuning from the county.

I would like to continue to work with the development of the Red Flint Recreation Area. Due to its proximity to the city of Eau Claire, I’m anticipating it will get heavy use, especially on hot summer days.

I have served on the county board for six years. For the first four, I thought the board functioned well. We listened to each other. But the past year, with the Department of Human Services investigation, has been rough. Judging from recent letters to the editor, there are still some ruffled feathers out there. A lot of supervisors have chosen not to run again. One woman who is departing after one term said a major reason for her leaving was “the way we talk to each other”.  I think a better solution is to stay and try to work things out.

I had already made the decision to run before the unexpected announcement by HSHS and Prevea that they were closing area hospitals and clinics. This situation is changing daily and I’m hoping we can keep most of these health care professionals in the area, but this is a major challenge for the greater Eau Claire community, including the county board.
