Eau Claire County: A Great Place to Visit,
A Better Place to Live

Eau Claire County is the fastest growing county in the state, and why wouldn’t people want to live here?

We have a thriving arts, music and restaurant scene in Eau Claire and Altoona. We have a 52,000 acre county forest open for hunting, fishing hiking and other outdoor pursuits. The forest also provides us with about $1 million in timber revenue annually.  Big Falls County Park is one of the most scenic areas in western Wisconsin. Tower Ridge Recreation Area has one of the best cross-country ski trail systems in the state, as well as disc golf and horseback riding trails. Lowes Creek County Park has one of the more popular mountain bike trail systems in the area.  Coon Fork County Park is one of the nicest areas for camping and swimming in western Wisconsin.  Beaver Creek Reserve is one of the nicest nature centers and youth camps in the state.

The cost of living here is generally low. Crime is low. The public school system is excellent. We have a large university, UW-Eau Claire, which adds a lot to the community. Unemployment is low.

Its not that we don’t have problems. We have homelessness, affordable housing is lacking, as it seems to be everywhere. As I’m writing this, we just learned that a major health care provider is pulling out of the area. We need to sort this out, and we will.

All in all, this is a nice place to live.
